Systems Engineer

Primary Responsibilities

  • Performs systems analysis, evaluation, design integration, verification and validation, and documentation
  • Transforms operational requirements into an integrated system design
  • Manages and configures network hardware and software, operating systems and attached devices
  • Creates and maintains systems drawings (e.g. flowcharts, diagrams)
  • Configures, monitors, and maintains servers
  • Designs and implements system security and data assurance
  • Analyzes user requirements and procedures; improves existing systems
  • Troubleshoots technical issues, and develops and implements solutions
  • Identifies system integrity issues and solutions
  • Conducts technical training
  • Participates in operational and maintenance phase for as-built systems
  • Supports data center operational responsibility
  • Assists with acquisition of hardware and software as necessary
  • Stays current with relevant technology trends
  • Participates in special projects as required

Required Technical Skills

  • Network infrastructures – design and implementation
  • Engineering life cycle – assessment, solutions design, testing, implementation, documentation
  • Enterprise applications – MS Exchange Server, MS remote desktop, MS terminal services, Citrix, Symantec
  • Servers- MS Windows, OSX and Linux
  • Cisco technologies – implementation and management
  • Application delivery controllers
  • Security and VPN solutions
  • Link aggregation, spanning tree, span/rspan
  • Virtualization

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • 4+ years of experience in systems engineering including network analysis, design, and installation
  • Excellent problem solving, analytic, and communication skills
  • Proven ability to provide effective training and technical presentations
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Capable of lifting equipment up to 50┬ápounds
  • Ability to work effectively in a small team environment with strict deadlines
  • Self-starter with ability to accomplish tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and/or weekends as job duties demand

Clearance: Active TS/SCI highly desired but not required.
